How to properly clean your tap - top tips from Eirline Kitchens

A well-loved kitchen tap is one of the most used items in any home. Although, if left uncared for it can quickly develop unsightly marks. In order for you to continue enjoying that lovely shine for years to come it’s important to maintain your kitchen tap correctly.

So, how should you properly clean your kitchen tap? It can be difficult to find a reliable source of information with numerous quick tips available online. These tap cleaning tips can often be damaging to a high-quality stainless-steel faucet if improper handling is encouraged, ultimately costing the homeowner their warranty.

As a manufacturer of high-quality sinks and taps since 1981, we’re sharing our top tips to maintain your Eirline kitchen tap.

Preventing & Removing Limescale from Taps

Almost every time you use your tap you will leave water droplets on it from wet hands. Once these droplets dry, they can quickly turn to limescale. Limescale is a particular issue in hard water areas as there is a high calcium bicarbonate content in water.

To prevent limescale build-up on your tap use a microfibre cloth to rub the tap dry after each use. By regularly wiping down your tap after each use you will not need to do a deep clean as regularly. It’s much easier to prevent limescale than it is to cure it.

If you notice a large build-up of limescale you can wipe a citric acid-based cleaning agent using a microfibre cloth onto your tap and leave it to work for some time before removing it with clean water.

Cleaning the Aerator

The aerator is the nozzle on the outlet of your tap and can sometimes get clogged due to hard water. If the aerator is clogged you may notice your water spraying uncontrollably when the tap is turned on.

To avoid this issue, it’s important to know how to clean your tap’s aerator. Citric acid can also be used to clean your aerator simply using a moist sponge or an old toothbrush. The limescale should start to dissolve and your spray will be free-flowing precisely once again.

No More Build-up

The above steps are easy to follow and don’t take much time when done regularly. To maintain a high-quality tap, it’s important to follow the correct steps so no damages occur in the process. The kitchen is the focal point of every home and is the place where everyone gathers. Although it might not seem like it, something so simple such as a kitchen tap covered in limescale build-up can certainly bring down the vibe of an entire room.
